Aircraft Camping at Oshkosh 2026 — North 40 & South 40

If you're flying in, the 32-page FAA NOTAM is the source of truth — not any blog. EAA calls it required reading, and 2026 introduces new VFR reporting points and routes around Appleton that matter if you're keeping alternates open.

Don't skim it the morning of. Read it, brief it, and print it.

You need a printed windshield sign readable from 50 feet:

• GAC — General Aircraft Camping
• GAP — General Aircraft Parking
• Optional N or S if you want to request North 40 or South 40 (still a request — marshals place aircraft by operational demand)

No sign, no smooth arrival. Print backups.

Both are open concurrently and marshals direct arrivals based on how the field is loading. South 40 has been built out with shuttles, groceries, avgas, an Uber/Lyft pickup zone, the South 40 Breakfast Café, and a Red One Market, so it's not the second-class option it used to be.

KOSH tip: there is no site saving in aircraft parking or camping except in designated group areas. If you want to camp with friends, arrive together — sending one plane ahead to hold space doesn't work.

Grass = tie down securely. Pavement = chock. Aircraft are parked, then shut down, then pushed or towed to final position if needed. No engine starts in the camping area — you push out first on departure.

One tent per aircraft. No pets in aircraft camping. Cooking appliances only in designated areas, supervised, extinguisher nearby, at least 10 feet from any aircraft, tent, or fuel. No campfires or stoves near aircraft. Alcohol is prohibited on airport property except in approved areas.

The camping fee is not an admission ticket. Pilots and guests still need the proper daily or weekly AirVenture wristband for flightline access and event attendance.

This one bites every year.

A revised crowd line is in effect during the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday airshow windows for the Red Arrows. Some affected aircraft owners get limited escorted access; no one crosses beyond the crowd line during certain periods.

If you're parked close to the affected east-side flightline, build that into your departure timing.
